Books About Books

Just step into a library or bookstore or an online book site and you will soon be overwhelmed by the choices in reading material for you and your children. But how do you decide what to read? We all have probably read books that were a waste of time, dumbed down, or 'twaddle' . As well, we've been inspired and educated and swept away by others that were well written.

Listed below are a few excellent resources I've come across that will help you choose books for yourself and your children.

Read For Your Life- Turning Teens Into Readers by Gladys Hunt and Barbara Hampton
Books Children Love by Elizabeth Wilson (arranged by topics)
Honey for A Child's Heart by Gladys Hunt
Honey for A Teen's Heart by Gladys Hunt and Barbara Hampton (I believe) this was formerly titled Read For Your Life - Turning Teens into Readers)

I strongly encourage you to begin collecting homeschool catalogues, if you have not already done so. They are a wealth of information and all carry booklists usually organized by grade level. One of my favourites is the Sonlight Catalogue - a great curriculum resource that lists many great books with short descrptions (order one online).
